Understanding Twitter Usage: The Complexities of Getting it Right!

Twitter is a much talked about and incredibly popular social media platform. Twitter’s awareness has grown in the past two years from barely visible to being on par with Facebook in 2010.

Interestingly, a recent report indicates that while Twitter increases in popularity and awareness, the majority of Twitter users would not pay for the service and 33% would either use it less or cease using it altogether if advertising were introduced.

This is a particularly interesting finding in light of the fact that, depending on the user, between 61% and 85% of all “tweets” have links, often to sites soliciting an product, service, or business offering of some kind or another.
